As part of the Festival Plaza redevelopment Festival Plaza Presents x JamFactory is a unique exhibition developed for the 2022 SALA Festival showcasing diverse artworks that make you think ‘inside the box’.
Presented within four custom designed cubes in the Festival Plaza, the exhibition features selections of South Australian made design objects, curated by four dynamic South Australian designers and craftspeople.

a happy place – noun
(With possessive adjective) a place which a person associates with happiness, visualized as a means of reducing stress, calming down, etc; such as a location, activity, memory, or interest that brings one happiness (hence) a happy state of mind.

CUBE 2
This suite of works curated by Caren Elliss combine form, colour and texture in an energetic and playful array of objects. Artists Caren Elliss, Lisa Furno and Alison Smiles have sought to create objects that consider sustainable practices, such as utilising recycled materials and embedding small-scale production principles into the work. The objects interact through playful aesthetic forms and surface decoration, imbuing a sense of emotional durability.

Is anything actually reversible?
Is anything truly eternal?
Conceptual artists Madeline Gins and Arakawa purported to believe that their conceptually designed structures could afford their inhabitants eternal life. They stated that living too comfortably was catastrophic to the human condition and sought to design spaces to increase mental and physical stimulation to bring a perpetual state of instability.
An ode to their aesthetic executions and their philosophy of eternity, ‘Destiny X Eternity X Legacy’ examines what curator Calum Hurley believes to be a feasible means of eternity: legacy. Presented are legacy-worthy works by Adelaide artists Anna Horne and Mineral Tufts (Angela Carrig and Nathan Peacock) and Hurley himself, whilst paying homage to the lifework of Gins and Arakawa.

Aggregate.
A combined showcase Featuring assemblages of furniture, hand built vessels and hollow ware by Andrew Carvolth, Kerryn Levy and Carly Mitolo.
Aggregate celebrates the texture of materials: timber, sand cast aluminium, clay and ceramic glazes. Imbued with the hallmark of the making process and innate nature of the materials and finishes.
These artists have shared a creative studio environment at Mixed Goods Studios in Kilkenny and this installation highlights the synergies in their practice and approach to materials.
